Valentine & 4A's Epic Moving Castle Debut "Us" feat. Naji

Moving Castle has quickly solidified themselves as one of the most recognizable brands in electronic music. With names like Jai Wolf, Manila Killa, Chet Porter, and AOBeats all starting off their respective projects with releases on this iconic collective, the Moving Castle team has been very selective about who they decide to feature on their newest releases. The Moving Castle sound highlights euphoric emotions backed by unique production unlike anything else in the scene. These releases provide an excellent sense of escapism whereas every artist does a phenomenal job at creating a sensual atmosphere that teeters on the line of bliss and full captivation. These tracks are far from the norm and each and every new release does a great job at representing a new idea to keep the listener guessing as to what’s in store. Along with incredibly well put together cover art, the Moving Castle brand is quickly growing into one of the most sought after music collectives in all of electronic music.

Today we are lucky enough to enjoy a piece produced by up and coming artists VALENTINE & 4A. Featuring vocals from Naji, these 3 projects are all making their Moving Castle debuts in epic fashion. Combining staccato future bass stabs with powerful kicks and a multitude of samples and fills, this track immediately captures the listener with a deep sense of love and longing. One could very generally relate this to works from Porter Robinson or even rising sensation K?D or possibly even ARMNHMR, but one listen to this track shows a unique compilation of genres unique to any melodic bass track released over the course of the past few months.

Moving Castle Soundcloud:

Spacey vocals are complimented by light chimes to create an open break perfectly built and topped by taiko drums to elevate the energy into an impactful drop that carries from bar to bar with a massive, captivating driving feel. This song is truthfully so unique that it’s difficult to do it justice with words. I can only recommend listening for yourself as just one listen through will leave you scrolling these artist’s pages to see what other heat they’ve got cooking up in the kitchen.

"A quick peep at VALENTINE's Soundcloud and it's riddled in bright fuchsia and bubble gum sweetness. Press play on one of the tracks and you'd expect the same thing."

All in all, this track receives a perfect score from a very critical journalist. In such a saturated area of the electronic market, it’s refreshing to stumble across a track that portrays such a vast variety of emotions and energy. This song perfectly encompasses the serene feeling of enjoying a sunset or driving with the windows down on a beautiful summer day. Once again, Moving Castle has gone above and beyond and exceeded expectations. Be sure to check out each of these individual artists along with the collective itself and brace yourself for a world of feels unlike anything you’ve stumbled across in the recent past.

Templo Releases New Tribal-Psy EP: "Sunrise Vol. II"

Liam Shea, aka Templo, strives to blend atmospheric soundscapes with head bobbing beats. Today, releasing his new EP, Sunrise Vol. II, he blends an ambient flow with captivating vocals and melodies to create a unique listening experience. This portion of the Sunrise sequence creates an encompassing finale to Sunrise Vol. I.

With his music, you will hear all original riffs and drum beats, found especially in his latest releases, which included a double EP, Sunrise and Sunset. In the last two years, Templo has played alongside some of the top experimental producers such as Kalya Scintilla, Random Rab, The Polish Ambassador, EOTO and Bluetech. Appearing at festivals such as Gem & Jam, Sonic Bloom, and Arise Music Festival, Templo presents a unique live experience incorporating downtempo trip-hop, funk and dub elements, with deep melodic bass sounds.

The psychedelic influences of these fellow artists are evident in Templo’s tranquil, upbeat songs. “Mai Dai” takes the listener to a jungle safari, frolicking in the treetops with the monkeys. Next, the vocals in “Morning Friend” reminisce on a bittersweet peaceful morning, waking up to a glorious skyline filled with the colors of the sunrise, very fitting for the title of the EP. Templo’s “Peaking Over” reminds the listener of a day in the sun, waking up from a slumber on the beach to splash about in the waves while the rays warm your skin. Bleeding over into “Something Like Us,” this track takes influences from all the previous songs. It incorporates the same style of vocals in “Morning Friend” with a more upbeat sweeping melody, reflecting the wonder of the simplicities in life, such as the majesty of a glorious sunrise. The name of the track deeply reflects the atmosphere of the track, making the listener wonder if there’s something bigger than us out there. Finally, Sunrise Vol. II completes with “You Saved Me,” a meditative yet still danceable conclusion to summarize the EP. It is reminiscent of a funky shavasana, bringing the nomadic sequence of tracks to a final close.

After the release of his “career defining” and aptly titled single, "Momentum," Australian DJ/producer Hook N Sling joins Arty and Destructo in the Insomniac / Interscope Records family this week and reveals his first release. Out today, March 23rd, Hook’s next single sees him team up with electro-rap lords Far East Movement for the unexpected and infectious, "Break Yourself."

In fact, ‘unexpected and infectious’ has become somewhat of a motif of Hook’s in the past few years. Going back to his first breakout single "Take You Higher" with Angus & Julia Stone he meshed folk-blues and main room house, emotions and energy, to make an all-time classic. The catch-cry "Reason" with NERVO and the goose bump-inducing "Tokyo By Night" with Karin Park continued in this spirit, and served as landmarks not only in Hook’s discography but also the evolving electronic scene. More than any other, "Break Yourself" exemplifies his unique ability to strike this balance of sounds, genres, cultures and emotions with broad appeal.

Now an honorary Angeleno, Hook provides a simple yet satisfying bass groove that rolls beneath the K-Town heroes’ classic and upbeat west coast rap. The result is fresh, fun, and oozing with time and place, and sees Hook continue to push his sound and the scene forward.

More info on Hook N Sling:

You might have heard of a badass little place in Australia that goes by the name of Bondi Beach. It’s a gem of a spot on the map, well known for its laid back lifestyle and surfer-ready waves. But there’s something else this sweet coastal hangout is recognized for producing – and that’s one of Australia’s most promising DJ/producers, Hook N Sling.

Yet while this talent hails from what you might call a more-than-mellow scene, it would be a mistake to equate his music as such. On the contrary, the ARIA-nominated Hook N Sling’s ascent has been single-mindedly driven, and backed by meticulously crafted and ever-evolving productions.

Making his biggest early splash was the gold-selling, Hype Machine-topping, YouTube 10-million-spinning 'Take You Higher' (with Goodwill), re-imagining Angus & Julia Stone's "Big Jet Plane" in an unexpected mesh of folk-blues and main room house. A year later his breakout #2 Beatport single 'Reason' (with NERVO) made more waves and became a catch-cry anthem for the dance floor (and notched up another 10m+ Youtube count).

Most recently Hook turned heads with a genre-defying and rather aptly-titled weapon named 'Momentum.’ The track was dubbed a 'career-defining track' by Earmilk and 'one of the most pivotal tracks of the year' by Insomniac.

The JJ Evanoff Experience Makes Waves in Colorado

If you haven’t heard of The JJ Evanoff Experience, yet, you’re missing out. An eclectic blend of electro-jam-rock-fusion, this Rocktronica trio is making waves in the Colorado scene. A sound reminiscent of renowned jam/rock artists such as Sound Tribe Sector 9, Umphrey’s McGee, and even Papadosio, yet still an individual identity all its own, The JJ Evanoff Experience perfectly blends soothing buildups and upbeat rhythms to create tracks that make you wanna sway and then go nuts on the dancefloor. An emotional outpour of guitar and captivating basslines keep you on the edge of your seat throughout each new track.

Building up excitement for an anticipated upcoming album, The JJ Evanoff Experience has released their first official single, “Rings Of Saturn.” Check it out here:

The ethereal, other-worldly vibes of this new track blast you off to another place, transcending into musical bliss. The quality of production of this new single has got us very excited for their upcoming self-titled album, “The JJ Evanoff Experience,” which is set to be released sometime this February.

Even though The JJ Evanoff Experience is finally starting to break through, the trio is certainly not new on the scene. I was fortunate enough to cover these guys last year when they opened up for Gladkill, Sugarpill, and Unlimited Aspect (Unlimited Gravity and Project Aspect duo set) at Cervantes. The JJ Evanoff Experience started the party, JJ Evanoff himself shredding on the guitar in accompaniment to some groovy, danceable beats thanks to bassist Parker Oberholzer and B.K. Kahn on the drums. Loyal fans and new enthusiasts got down to the music, proving to be the perfect kick off to the night’s events. The carefree atmosphere JJ Evanoff sparked was contagious, infecting the entire venue.

JJ Evanoff will be returning to Cervantes’ Masterpiece, this time not as an opener, but a main event! Wakarusa Music Festival is hosting Waka Winter Classic throughout the nation, traveling in a quest to locate the most talented local musicians. The JJ Evanoff Experience will be competing TONIGHT at Waka Winter Classic against four other talented artists, so be sure to come out and support these talented young musical ingenieurs. Over on Cervantes’ Other Side, Leftover Salmon and The Infamous Stringdusters will also be jamming out.

Purchase tickets to the event here:

In addition to the competition tonight, The JJ Evanoff Experience will be co-headlining a show at the Fox this upcoming April! Stay tuned for more details to come on that event.

Mat Zo Announces Haywyre as Primary Support - The Mad Zoo Road Show Begins November 26

As Mat Zo’s Mad Zoo Road Show closes in on its launch date, it’s now appropriate to announce the merry prankster who will be joining the tour. Mat is proud to announce that Haywyre will be coming along for the ride as primary support.

"Haywyre is someone whose productions have stood out to me for a while, and have been a key part of my sets for some time,” says Zo.“Mad Zoo is all about doing things differently and not being a one trick pony and always pushing the boundaries… and Haywyre is one of the few producers who feels on that wavelength, so it felt a natural fit to have him on the tour. Hopefully we can do something together for the label."

The young producer from Indiana has been rising strong since his debut album ‘Two Fold Pt. 1’ started turning heads, but it was really his remix (and incredible video) of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” that blew people away. As it is with all great producers however, this day was a long time coming. He has been studying piano since the age of six, and producing for most of his life. Drawing on a wide range of musical influences, from Flying Lotus to Hans Zimmer, his live performances are becoming renowned for their energy and ingenuity. His last single "Everchanging" is also a tune not to be missed.

About Mat Zo
While so many follow the status quo, Mat Zo has always danced to the beat of his own drum. From his days topping both the drum & bass and trance charts simultaneously (releasing on Hospital Records as MRSA), to his current status as a big room innovator, collaborating with Kill The Noise and Public Enemy’s Chuck D, to dropping genre-blurring 70-track contributions to BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix, the precocious talent is destined to play by his own rules.

Supported by DJs as diverse as Skrillex, Madeon, Pete Tong, Above & Beyond, Steve Aoki and A-Trak, the British-born, now LA-based producer stands above the crowd. In a world of EDM soundalikes, this is electronic dance music with integrity and ambition. Released via Astralwerks and Anjunabeats, his debut artist album 'Damage Control' in November 2013 was critically acclaimed, hitting #1 in both the Billboard Heatseeker Chart and the iTunes Dance Album Chart. His bi-monthly radio show The Mat Zo Mix can be heard on Sirius XM’s Electric Area Channel every other Saturday with repeat episodes airing the following Tuesday.

After much anticipation, Every Nite, the new EP from celebrated Canadian trio Keys N Krates, finally dropped in late September to considerable acclaim. Now, Keys N Krates are getting ready to present Every Nite (The Remixes), which brims with an impressive selection of forwarding thinking talent including Machinedrum, Darq E Freaker, Chris Lorenzo, Taiki Nulight and R3ll. Featuring styles ranging from juke to UK bass to Jersey club, this remix package takes the already formidable work from the electronic band and gives it a new edge.

A follow up to 2013's SOLOW EP and lead by the acclaimed single “Are We Faded,”Every Nite aptly demonstrates Keys N Krates' evolution as a band, as well as their loyalty to the unique fusion of hip-hop and electronic music that they're known for. After a debut on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show as well as on the highly influential YouTube channel All Trap Music, "Are We Faded" has amassed over 1 million plays on Soundcloud and has been supported by the likes of Machinedrum, What So Not, Hudson Mohawke and Plastician. The track also received special support from a young fan in Canada, who loved the tune so much she got her dance class to choreograph and perform a recital to it. Additionally, the second track to be revealed off the EP, "Understand Why," has received support from artists such as Hudson Mohawke, Just Blaze, and Salva.

Every Nite (The Remixes) comes hot off the heels of the hugely successful Every Nite Tour with Gladiator and Thugli, which took the band across the expanse of North America for nearly 40 dates. Up next for the trio is the Mad Decent Boat Party taking place November 12 - 16, where they'll perform alongside some of the best that house and bass music has to offer. This will be followed by yet another string of dates, bringing the explosive live Keys N Krates experience to major markets across the continent.

Praise for Every Nite:

"The new single, 'Are We Faded,' is dizzyingly sexy, pushing along at a slower tempo that's ideal for sweaty, middle-of-the-dance-pit grooving. It's carried by choppy female vocals that bounce around in tandem with the synths, vanishing every once in a while to let a low voice chime 'f-f-faded.'" - Billboard

"...the trio of Adam Tune (drummer), David Matisse (synthesizer/keyboardist), and Jr. Flo (turntablist) care little about the walls within EDM’s sub-genres, blending their skills to keep a dance floor grooving even when hitting them with the filthiest builds from the bass music realm." - Consequence of Sound

"A union littered with clichés and near misses, 'Are We Faded' reminds us just how powerful the union of dance floor fundamentals and hip hop etiquette can sound when executed in the right hands. Powerful beats, ample triplet runs and that infectious sampled prowess scream all the hallmarks of another solid run for a trio cutting notably unique shapes in the industry." - Dancing Astronaut

"'Understand Why' combines loopy, pitched up '90s house vocals, knocking rap drums, epic synths, big bass, and haunting voices to form a genre defying banger." - Hypetrak

"...what's made Toronto three-piece Keys N Krates stand out in the electronic music world is that they've so seamlessly incorporated dance music and hip hop, traditionally sample and DJ based genres, into a live setting. They're switching up convention as they approach the organic from the electronic and their freshly released Every Nite EP brings a hip hop laden bassweight to a live setting like no one has before." - THUMP

"Keys N Krates have a wonderfully tumultuous sound that steers you around on an audio rollercoaster, allowing you to chill with airy calm spells that slowly build up into electronic exhilaration." - BlackBook

The album finally lifts the curtain on the enigmatic wizard famed for merging teched-out house, disco, electro, glitch, and hard bass grooves in a single track. According to Mord Fustang9999 in 1 is “kind of a concept album.” Growing up in the small Eastern European country of Estonia, Mord became a video game fanatic – today he claims “70% of my body is made of video games.” Still, the only games available during his childhood were “pirated Russian knockoffs of Nintendo cartridges that had five games and weird hacks like ‘Naked Super Mario Brothers.’ The title comes from the random numbers they always had on the plastic yellow cartridges. The album is a 8-bit homage to the nostalgia I have for those games.”

This is evident through tracks like the Street Fighter & Mortal Kombat inspired “Press Play,” which uses the ticking of the timer that ticks down before players press play in the game, and “Skyward World,” which is built around the sound of the cartridge being removed from the old Sega Genesis consoles.

Mord Fustang is set to release ‘9999 in 1’ on his own label Magic Trooper on January 20th, 2015.

With the help of Martin Phillips at Bionic League (whose work includes live performance experience design for Daft Punk, Kaskade, Deadmau5, and Kanye West) and the music tech masterminds at Name the Machine, TGM have pushed their live production and performance to all new heights this year.  "A physical representation of the music" named The Blade joins The Glitch Mob on stage as custom-built technology allows the band to trigger samples in real-time and play them like live riffs, infusing their electronic music performance with the energy and drama of a live rock show.
