EDM on 4/20

With 4/20 weekend rapidly approaching, there is no better way to spend it than with an EDM show. With many producers and DJ’s being notorious supporters of weed culture, the perfect combination for a superb weekend involves Colorado, EDM, and of course a little cannabis loving. Artists and producers are flocking to Colorado to play shows for the holiday weekend, as they can enjoy the perks of legal weed here as well as rage with the much loved Colorado crowd.

There are numerous shows starting Thursday, April 17 and going through Sunday, April 20th in Denver and the major surrounding areas in Colorado. Starting off the weekend early, Figure is playing on Thursday at the Aggie Theater in Fort Collins, and for a more trance vibe, Seven Lions will be playing at Beta Nightclub in Denver the same night. Flume is also playing a show at the Gothic Theater in Englewood on Thursday night.

Continuing on into Friday, Collie Buddz is playing at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver. Although not EDM, this show is definitely a celebration of 420 weekend that will unite all fans alike. Another show happening on this Friday is Ice Cube at the Denver Mart in Denver. Figure will be playing another show Friday night, but this time it will be in Boulder at the Fox Theatre.

Saturday brings us closer to the beloved holiday, and to celebrate, Red Rocks is bringing Slightly Stoopid back for the 6th time headlining Red Rocks. This event, titled “Hot Box at Red Rocks”, has been sold out for months in anticipation. Mac Miller will be at Red Rocks opening for Slightly Stoopid, and this will be the first Red Rocks show of the season. Another show happening this Saturday is from Paper Diamond, recently named one of EDM’s top 10 Stoners. He switched his show in Denver from March to April 19 just to play a special 420 event for Colorado. Paper Diamond will be playing at the Ogden Theatre in Denver, and the event is titled “Colorado Cold Crush- a 420 Celebration”. There is also a free show in Denver that features Bassphysics, Zion I, Wyclef Jean and The Expendables. This free show will take place in the Civic Center Park in Denver and is presented by the Cannabis Culture Music Festival.

As Sunday rolls in, one of the most notorious advocates for weed, Snoop Dogg, will be headlining a “Wellness Retreat” at Red Rocks with the help of Wiz Khalifa. This event has been sold out and is Snoop’s first ever Wellness Retreat at Red Rocks. For blazers in Boulder, LOUDPVCK will be playing at the Fox Theatre. Another one of EDM’s top stoner producers, Rusko, is more than excited to be playing a 420 show in Denver at City Hall Nightclub. For a non EDM show, Matisyahu and Talib Kweli will be playing at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver.

While EDM and being 4/20 friendly coincide, the good vibes exploding in Colorado over 420 weekend is sublime. Whether you celebrate it with the more reggae roots of Slightly Stoopid, or decide to light up with an EDM enthused dubstep producer like Rusko, 4/20 in Colorado is sure to be a weekend full of blissful memories and good vibes for fans of all genres.
